The face of an optimist - Maggie McLinden

Maggie is a self-proclaimed foodie who enjoys spending time in the kitchen pretending to host her own cooking show. She has recently been attempting to fatten up her family as she received Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" volumes 1 and 2 as a gift. She also enjoys Japanese cuisine, though she has yet to master that art and probably never will.

Recently, Maggie moved from New Mexico (where she was teaching English) to Ohio (where it is bitterly cold). She graduated from Ashland University with a degree in English Education and hopes to teach until she can no longer properly yell at students. To fill her summers, she works as a camp counselor at, arguably, the best place on earth where she has the privilege of yelling at even more children.

As a proud member of the ginger (people with red hair) community, Maggie would like to let the world know that 1) gingers do in fact have souls, 2) there is no such things as "beat a ginger day," though "hug a ginger day" is acceptable, and 3) gingers will not be going extinct any time soon, despite what you may have heard.

In case you were wondering (and she knows you were), here are a few of her interests:

  • Penguins
  • Harry Potter
  • Jane Austen
  • (Good) Books
  • Writing
  • Travel

Speaking of travel, Maggie has had the privilege of visiting many different locations in her life. Her favorite places include France (particularly the lower region, in the area of Toulouse), London, and California. In the coming years, she hopes to fill up her passport with such places as Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Greece, South Africa, China, Australia, Peru, and Japan.

If you, for some reason, desire to know more about the inner workings of Maggie's mind, feel free to visit her blog, an ongoing (and sometimes forgotten) project which chronicles her misadventures post-college.
